Dog Licensing

Dogs in the Town of Springfield are required to be licensed. All dog licenses expire on December 31st. Dog license application and payment is due by January 31st and sent to Town of Springfield, 856 310th Street, Glenwood City, WI 54013. Please enclose rabies shot record and a self addressed stamped envelope. If sent after January 31st, there is a $5 per dog late charge fee.

The dog license fee is:

Male $10
Neutered Male $5
Female $10
Sprayed Female $5

Please have your dog wear the tag at all times so we can locate the owner if the dog is picked up as a stray. Also include all phone numbers so we can reach the owner.

Notice to Dog Owners

Rabies Vaccination required. The owner of a dog shall have the dog vaccinated against rabies by a veterinarian at no later than 5 months of age and revaccinated within one year after the initial vaccination. If the owner obtains the dog or brings the dog into this state after the dog has reached 5 months of age, the owner shall have the dog vaccinated against rabies within 30 days after the dog is obtained or brought into the state unless the dog has been vaccinated as evidenced by a current certificate of rabies vaccination from this state or another state. The owner of a dog shall have the dog revaccinated against rabies by a veterinarian before the date that the immunization expires as stated on the certificate of vaccination or, if no date is specified, within 3 years after the previous vaccination. Dog Licenses

The owner of a dog more than 5 months of age on January 1 of any year, or 5 months of age within the license year, shall annually, or on or before the date the dog becomes 5 months of age, pay the dog license tax and obtain a license. The governing body of any town, village or city may raise the minimum dog license tax on dogs within its jurisdiction. Late fees may be assessed after April 1st. [Wis. Statutes 174.05]
