April 2026 Regular Board Meeting Minutes
Thursday, April 21 2026

 

 

The Regular Monthly Meeting for the Town of Springfield was called to order by Barry Ketchum at 6:40 p.m. PRESENT: Chair Barry Ketchem, Supervisors: Warren Benson & James Mahoney, Clerk/Treasurer Rachael Hawkins, Bryce Oehlke, and Keith Kromery

 

A motion was made by Jim to approve the agenda and seconded by Barry. Motion carried.

Correspondence received or forwarded: Residents on 325th wondering where the property line is for their land vs the township.

Public comments on issues: Bryce Oehlke requested to use an alternate path due to road bans. The St. Croix County Road engineer advised the bridge on the proposed path should not be used, the town is following the county’s recommendation.

A motion was made by Warren & 2nd by Jim to approve the March Regular Monthly minutes as presented.  Motion carried.

The March financial report was presented.  A motion was made by Jim & 2nd by Warren to approve the financial report. Motion caried

A motion was made by Jim and 2nd by Warren to approve the bills to be paid in February at a total of $14,905.53.  Motion carried.

Department Reports:
Maintenance: Road Tour will be April 28 at 4:30. ATV signs can be removed; the club does not want them back.  Remaining sand was returned to the county, and the truck needs a new windshield. 90th to 325th brush should be cut and 2 or 3 trees on 80th. 325th is the town’s road to maintain to the field driveway, it could use gravel or grading. Contacted Bill Reusch to create a new town sign.

Clerk-Treasurer: Election went well with all workers being available, the next United Fire meeting is May 6.

Chairman: Road Tour will be April 28 at 4:30.

OLD BUSINESS

Fire Code Ordinance: Barry drafted a copy and sent to be presented at the next United Fire Board Meeting. Towns will be asked to adopt the ordinance. Will discuss at May meeting.

 

NEW BUSINESS

Cemetery: Removing the shed and trellis, preferably before Memorial Day. Barry reached out to Mike Snyder for trellis replacements or recommendations.

Hydro seeding: Seeding around the new shed – Green Touch quoted $1,800, this can be funded from the remaining funds from excavation work that was budgeted. A motion was made by Jim and seconded by Warren to approve Green Touch to hydro seed for $1,800. Motion carried

Tree Service Quotes: Tree branch fell at the cemetery and another is about to  break on the pine tree on the west end. No response from St. Croix Tree Service, Ackley quoted $1,000 to remove. A motion was made by Warren and 2nd by Jim to proceed with tree branch removal as quoted. Motion carried.

Adjournment: Warren made a motion to adjourn at 7:22pm. Bary seconded. Motion carried.
