May 2026 Regular Board Meeting Minutes
Monday, May 11 2026

 

 

The Regular Monthly Meeting for the Town of Springfield was called to order by Barry Ketchum at 6:38 p.m. PRESENT: Chair Barry Ketchem, Supervisors: Warren Benson & James Mahoney, Clerk/Treasurer Rachael Hawkins, and Josh Melstrom

A motion was made by Jim to approve the agenda and seconded by Warren Motion carried.

Correspondence received or forwarded: Call from Bob Klanderman with building permit questions.

Public comments on issues: A dog got into another resident’s garage, causing damage. This issue will need to be handled between the residents.

A motion was made by Warren & 2nd by Jim to approve the April Regular Monthly minutes as presented.  Motion carried.

A motion was made by Jim & 2nd by Warren to approve the Annual Meeting minutes as presented.  Motion carried.

A motion was made by Warren & 2nd by Jim to approve the Road Tour minutes and Road Inventory as presented.  Motion carried.

The April financial report was presented.  A motion was made by Jim & 2nd by Barry to approve the financial report. Motion caried

A motion was made by Jim and 2nd by Warren to approve the bills to be paid in February at a total of $13,564.33.  Motion carried.

Department Reports:
Maintenance: Road Tour was completed, clogged culvert in Hersey – Jim will take a look

Clerk-Treasurer: Open Book will be June 29 from 3-5 and Board of Review will be July 13 from 6-8. WTA Dues will be due in June.

Chairman: Sent letters to residents that are non-compliant with building permits – no responses

OLD BUSINESS

Fire Code Ordinance: Presented at Fire Meeting and to Towns – Adopt or bring any questions forward before August. Rachael will work on getting a list of all CPUs

Cemetery: New flagpole needed, A motion was made by Warren and 2nd by Jim to approve purchase and installation of a new flagpole for $400.  Motion carried.

Sign Board – A motion was made by Warren and 2nd by Jim to review and/or replace the sign board as necessary.  Motion carried.

Memorial Stone should be moved to new flagpole, prep for Memorial Day, and May 30 funeral.

Calling the owner of the pasture to ask about brining excavator in to remove trees.

 

 

NEW BUSINESS

2026 Road Work: A motion was made by Jim and 2nd by Warren to adopt the 2026 Road Plan as presented.  Motion carried.

Building Inspector: Contract needs to be renewed.

A motion was made by Warren and 2nd by Jim to approve Building Inspector Contract with Melstrom Inspections as presented.  Motion carried.

 

Adjournment: Warren made a motion to adjourn at 7:44pm. Bary seconded. Motion carried.
