Building Permits and Building Inspections
For residential dwellings or commercial buildings and other accessory structures,
contact the township’s building inspector for permits and inspections.

The building inspection fees are:
A) New one and two-family dwellings construction is $675.00 flat fee plus $.10 per square foot.
B) New modular or manufactured dwelling homes to be placed on a slab only. $450 flat fee. To be placed on a permanent foundation. $450 plus $.10 of the total additional square footage in addition to the modular or manufactured home.
C) Residential additions – Additions to existing structures will have a flat fee of $350 plus $.10/square foot of the total added space. If the addition is greater than 1000 square feet, the fee will per (A) above.
D) Residential alterations/remodeling. Fees, if applicable, for alterations or remodeling will be calculated on a per inspection basis. $80 per inspection.
Building permit prices in the Town of Springfield are:
$500 new homes construction
$50 for remodeling or repair over $10,000
$250 for mobile home permits
$50 for other accessory structures – barns, sheds, swimming pools, solar panels and windmills.
Inspection fees and building permit fees will be doubled if you fail to purchase a building permit.
The town clerk will no longer issue building permits as all building permits are issued by Joshua Melstrom.
