The REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING for the Town of Springfield was called to order by Dean Fayerweather at 6:30 p.m. PRESENT: Chairman Dean Fayerweather, Supervisors: Jim Mahoney & Barry Ketchum, Clerk/Treasurer Sheri Erickson via Skype, Mark Erickson, Nick Petit, Drew Young

A motion was made by Barry & 2nd by Jim to approve the agenda.  Motion carried.

Mathy Construction: Conditional Use Permit for Temporary Concrete Plant at the Mathy site. A motion was made by Dean & 2nd by Jim to approve the 2022-23 temporary concrete plant.  Motion carried.

A motion was made by Jim & 2nd by Dean to approve the Regular May minutes as presented.  Motion carried.

A motion was made by Barry & 2nd by Jim to approve the Special May 24th minutes as presented.  Motion carried.

The May financial report was read.  A motion was made by Barry & 2nd by Dean to approve the report as read.  Motion carried.

A motion was made by Dean & 2nd by Jim to approve the bills to be paid in June at a total of $18,213.68. Motion carried.

Clerk report: Sheri reported that 2022 invoices for dog calls, fire calls and culvert have been sent out.

Liquor Licenses:

  • A motion was made by Dean & 2nd by Jim to approve Peg’s Pleasant View Inn liquor license application.  Motion carried.
  • A motion was made by Dean & 2nd by Jim to approve Glen Hills Golf Club liquor license application.  Motion carried.
  • A motion was made by Dean & 2nd by Barry to approve the individual Operator’s liquor license applications.  Motion carried.
  • A motion was made by Dean & 2nd by Jim to approve 22-004 Ordinance – Building Code.  Motion carried.

Discussion on summer propane: A motion was made by Barry & 2nd by Dean to purchase 1000 gallons with Northwoods Propane on the pre-paid contract.  Motion carried.

Discussion regarding batteries, light bulbs and used oil: The collected batteries have been taken to Kadingers. The township does not accept fluorescent light bulbs but there are some in the recycling shed that needs to be taken in on clean up day. Dean waiting on reply from Kris on whether the township needs to accept oil.

ARPA Plans:

  • The shelves and organizer for shop have been purchased.
  • A motion was made by Barry & 2nd by Dean to post the town hall office project for bids. Motion carried.
  • Barry reported on chain saws and weed whip repair status. A motion was made by Dean & 2nd by Jim to repair the chain saws and whip weed, not to exceed $350 to fix. Motion carried.
  • A motion was made by Dean & 2nd by Barry to advertise the wood chipper on marketplace. Motion carried.
  • A motion was made by Barry & 2nd by Dean to buy quality tools for the shop, not to exceed $1000. Motion carried.
  • A motion was made by Dean & 2nd by Jim to purchase two four foot folding tables for the hall area. Motion carried.
  • A motion was made by Dean & 2nd by Barry for Dean to get a bid for the safety barricades. Motion carried.

Recycling/ Maintenance Report:

  • Mark presented the tire pricing options for the township tractor.
  • A motion was made by Barry & 2nd by Jim purchase the tractor tires not to exceed $3,500. Motion carried.
  • Road work is coming under budget. Spray patching has been happening and sealing coating is starting soon.
