Special Board Meeting Minutes
Wednesday, September 24, 2025

 

The SPECIAL MEETING for the Town of Springfield was called to order by Barry Ketchum at 5 p.m. PRESENT: Chair Barry Ketchem, Supervisors: Warren Benson & James Mahoney, Clerk/Treasurer Sheri Erickson, Deputy Clerk/Treasurer Rachael Hawkins, Mark Erickson & Jeremy Hawkins.

 

A motion was made by Jim & 2nd by Warren to approve the agenda.  Motion carried.

 

Power service for A/C:
Quote from Badger State Electric was presented for the installation of power for A/C unit.

A motion was made by Jim & 2nd by Warren to accept the bid of $875 for power to the north wall for A/C. Motion carried.

 A/C Installation Bid:
Quote from Tom Leque was presented to install the mini-split A/C unit.

A motion was made by Warren and seconded by Jim to accept the bid not to exceed $2,900 from Tom Leque to install the A/C unit. Motion carried.

Trenched power to new shed:
Quote from Badger State Electric was presented for trenching power to the new shed, adding breaker and an outlet.
Item was tabled until remaining funds from capital budget amount are determined.

Excavation work for shed, south driveway and water drainage of lot:
Bids from Anderson Excavating, Mason Excavating and Gary Cormican Excavating were presented. Some clarification is needed of what was included in some of the quotes.

Bid to remove dead fallen trees in town ditches:
Quotes from Mason Excavating and Gary Cormican Excavating were presented to remove down trees from road ditches. No decision was made at this time.

Tractor repair estimate:
Jeremy Hawkins presented a quote of $1,057.53 for parts and labor to repair the JD tractor.

A motion was made by Jim and seconded by Warren to have Jeremy Hawkins repair the tractor. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Barry and seconded by Jim to hire Jeremy Hawkins as a temporary employee. Motion carried.

New sign approval for Oakwood Cemetery:
Updated wording for the Oakwood Cemetery sign was presented and order of line items were changed.

A motion was made by Barry & 2nd by Jim to accept the sign layout per the draft of the wording on the sign. Motion carried.

Bunker purchase:
No decision made about the bunkers at this time.

Oil disposition:
No discussion or action taken.

Public Input:
Mark brought up the fact that a sand/salt pile cannot be within 250 feet of a well.

 

Motion made by Barry and seconded by Warren to adjourn the meeting. Meeting Adjourned at 6:15 pm.
