Waste and Recycling Hours

First and Third Saturdays of the month from 8 am to Noon and the Third Wednesday from 5 pm to 7 pm (months of March thru October only).

Notice: Effective 1/1/2023, Town of Springfield will no longer accept used oil or oil filters. Parts City in Baldwin will take used oil and oil filters. Mike’s Auto Body in Glenwood City will take clean used oil (no antifreeze, hydraulic fluids or other lubricants added) and steel filters, but not paper filters.

Notice: Due to the recent increase cost for the disposal of recyclables, the town board has switched vendor to save on hauling costs starting May 1, 2023. The new vendor’s recycling guidelines are slightly different from the old vendor, especially in regard to plastics. Only plastics with the recycling symbol of 1, 2 and 5 will be accepted. All other plastics will not be accepted. No plastic bags accepted.


Springfield Bags for Waste  $2.50 per bag

Bags available for purchase at the recycling center located at the town hall during recycling hours.

Recycling Charge of $1 per 32 gallons of recycling items

Notice: Effective 9/1/2023, there is a $1 charge per 32 gallons of recycling items.

 

 

Notice

If garbage or recycling is dropped off on a non-designated day or time, you will receive a $100 fine.

 

Clean Up Day

Clean up day is held on the third Saturday of September from 8 am until noon. Clean Up Day for 2024 is September 21st. There will be no Friday hours.

Note : No construction materials are accepted and the township has the right to turn items away.

Load Charge Fee

There will be a load charge for other items not on the Clean Up Day Price list. Prices are for an average size and will be adjusted up or down based on actual load size of non-priced items.

RECYCLING GUIDELINES

WHAT TO RECYCLE:

  • GLASS bottles & jars
  • ALUMINUM, tin & steel cans and lids
  • PLASTICS #1-2 are accepted at the drop-off site
    PLASTICS #1-7 are accepted through curbside collection 
    bottles, jugs, jars & food tubs (put plastic caps back on)
  • PAPER, flattened cardboard, newspaper & magazines
  • NO Plastic Bags/Film (gather separately and bring to your local grocery store, Target or Walmart)
  • NO Used Paper Products (can be composted)
