October 2023 Regular Board Meeting Minutes
Monday, October 9, 2023
The REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING for the Town of Springfield was called to order by Dean Fayerweather at 6:30 p.m. PRESENT: Chair: Dean Fayerweather, Supervisors: Barry Ketchum & James Mahoney, Clerk/Treasurer Sheri Erickson, Mark Erickson, and David Tumax.
A motion was made by Barry & 2nd by Dean to approve the agenda after moving item 6 after 4. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Barry & 2nd by Jim to approve the September Regular Monthly minutes as presented. Motion carried.
The September financial report was presented. A motion was made by Barry & 2nd by Jim to approve the report as presented. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Dean & 2nd by Barry to approve the bills to be paid in October at a total of $21,765.88. Motion carried.
Clerk report:
Building Permits report provided.
Provided information on upcoming GC Fire/Ambulance Meeting.
Provided County Road Setback Reduction public hearing information.
Temporary Picnic Beer License Policy:
Dean asked David Trumax clarification on what his Trumax Ministry does.
Board needs more information to draw up a policy which follows state statues regulations.
Oakwood Cemetery Transfer Resolution:
A motion was made by Dean to approve the 2023-002 Resolution Oakwood Cemetery Transfer. Seconded by Jim. Motion carried.
There was some discussion on the next steps of creating a cemetery ordinance.
Approve Property Tax Collection with County:
A motion was made by Jim to approve the Property Tax Collection with the County for the 2023 Tax Year. Motion seconded by Dean. Motion carried.
Review the 2024 Budget:
Budget for 2024 was presented.
Recycling/ Maintenance Report:
Mark reported the truck was next in line at Universal and build sheet was clarified.
Ditch mowing is continuing.
Some tree trimming of overhanging limbs have been completed.
Garage doors for the recycling shed are here.
Need to reset the 75th Ave culvert.
Recycling – some are not paying for recycling.
Chairman Report:
Dean reported issues with certain individuals about non-compliance on building permits or building code ordinance.
Board needs to work on citations, TRI grant and cemetery issues.
Work meeting scheduled for Monday, October 23rd at 5 pm. (Later changed to Tuesday, Oct 24th)
