August 2025 Regular Board Meeting Minutes
Monday, August 11, 2025
The REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING for the Town of Springfield was called to order by Barry Ketchum at 6:30 p.m. PRESENT: Chair Barry Ketchum, Supervisors: Warren Benson & James Mahoney, Clerk/Treasurer Sheri Erickson, Deputy Clerk/Treasurer Rachael Hawkins, and Martha Erickson.
A motion was made by Jim & 2nd by Warren to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Warren & 2nd by Jim to approve the July Regular Monthly minutes as presented. Motion carried.
The July financial report was presented. A motion was made by Warren & 2nd by Jim to approve the report as presented. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Jim & 2nd by Warren to approve the bills to be paid in August at a total of $20,399.73. Motion carried.
Oakwood Cemetery:
Some of the issues to address in the cemetery are: Stone tipping with a wedge holding it in place, trimming the brush, the cemetery arch, fixing up the shed and flower planters.
Road Tour:
Several road signs need to be replaced.
A motion was made by Jim and seconded by Warren to approve the 8/7/25 Road Tour meeting minutes. Motion carried.
Fall Cleanup:
The township fall cleanup day is September 20 and Sheri will order the same dumpsters combination as last year.
Email .gov Grant:
Sheri presented some information on the grant to switch to .gov email. The board suggested getting a quote for converting.
Clerk Report:
Sheri reported that training is going well with Rachael.
Maintenance/Recycling/Cemetery Report:
Garage door – Jim Elsberry has volunteered to help and will get a list of items needed.
Mark made initial contact with electrician about new shed wiring and hall a/c, but on-site visit will be after electrician returns from vacation.
Need gravel around new shed.
Mark had quotes for 2 brush mowers. Renting one is expensive and freight from eastern or southern part of state.
Question on hiring Drew Mason to remove larger trees from the ditches.
Tractor needs servicing and then will mount the mower.
Recycling is good.
Mark would like to keep the shed at the cemetery.
Chairman Report:
Job duties need to be split between board members.
Public Input:
Martha reported on Mark’s health.
Barry made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:08 pm and seconded by Warren. Motion carried.
