April 2024 Regular Board Meeting Minutes

The REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING for the Town of Springfield was called to order by Dean Fayerweather at 6:43 p.m. PRESENT: Chair: Dean Fayerweather, Supervisors: Barry Ketchum & James Mahoney, Clerk/Treasurer Sheri Erickson, Mark Erickson, Luke Nirmaier, and Amy Covington.

 

A motion was made by Jim & 2nd by Dean to approve the agenda.  Motion carried.

A motion was made by Dean & 2nd by Jim to approve the March Regular Monthly minutes as presented.  Motion carried.

The March financial report was presented.  A motion was made by Barry & 2nd by Jim to approve the report as presented.  Motion carried.

A motion was made by Dean & 2nd by Jim to approve the bills to be paid in April at a total of $15,446.50. Motion carried.

Clerk report:
Building Permits report provided.
ARPA report is due end of the month.
Shared Revenue tied to Emergency Services maintenance. Loss of 15% of shared revenue if MOE is not maintained by fire departments. Information must come from fire chiefs.
SCEC Ballot presented to board.

Oakwood Cemetery Monument Inscription:
The board reviewed the desired inscription for a monument. Dean will reply to Amy about revising sayings.

County Meeting on Permit / Zoning Violations Discussion:
Board members reported on the county meeting. Barry stated that he thought it was a waste of time as no options were presented to move forward or enforce septic permits. Jim said that Jason made a comment that it would be wiser for them to get their permits and will cost up front but will be less than lawsuit costs. Dean said a letter would go out to allow an opportunity to comply before proceeding with prosecution. Make one more lawful attempt to correct. Josh would write the letter.

 Recycling/ Maintenance Report:
Mark reported that Rock Oil Refining picked up the used oil
Culverts on 60th are plugged and county will be cleaning them out
Spraying patching on 100th and 110th Ave were done.
Gravel base was added to 280th St.

Chairman Report:
Dean stated that there will be a meeting to swap road sections with Cady township.
Trucks are going off the road at the lumber mill on 90th Ave and that the road is posted again with weight restrictions.

 Public Input:
Issues with the Amish were brought up.
Question on the dogs that killed the goats if they were wild dogs.
