2023 Recycling Changes

Town of Springfield
Waste / Recycling Vendor Change

Due to the recent increase cost for the disposal of recyclables, the town board has switched vendor to save on hauling costs starting May 1, 2023.

The new vendor’s recycling guidelines are slightly different from the old vendor, especially in regard to plastics. Only plastics with the recycling symbol of 1, 2 and 5 will be accepted. All other plastics will not be accepted. No plastic bags accepted.

Food jars, beverage bottles, aluminum and metal cans must be empty and rinsed. Do not place jars or cans with food remaining in them into the recycling dumpster.

Paper and cardboard needs to be dry and clean. Please flatten cardboard and boxes before placing in dumpster. Pizza boxes, waxy boxes, cardboard with food residue, used paper plates, napkins, or tissues are not accepted.

Due to the recycling dumpster size being smaller and dumped every other week, large loads of recycling items may be turned away if it will overfill the dumpsters. Please bring recycling items more often instead of holding them for months.
