A SPECIAL MEETING for the Town of Springfield was called to order by Dean Fayerweather at 1:02 p.m. PRESENT: Chairman Dean Fayerweather, Supervisor Barry Ketchum, Clerk/Treasurer Sheri Erickson, Mark Erickson, Terrie Murtha and Jim Mikla.
Purpose of this special meeting was to discuss the recycling/waste hauling cost and look at hauling quotes from different vendors. Dean opened the floor to Terrie Murtha so she could explain what services Murtha Sanitation could provide for recycling, waste and for clean up day. They would provide a temporary overflow dumpster until we could determine whether the town would need a third recycling dumpster or not. For the town clean up day event, Murtha would provide at no cost, a dumpster for the electronics, appliances and tires and the fee would be item charges. A scrap metal dumpster could also be provided at no cost, but Murtha would retain any profit from the sale of the scrap metal.
Sheri provided a spreadsheet of the quotes from GFL, Waste Management and Murtha for the waste hauling, the recycling hauling and cleanup dumpster costs with breakdown for 2 or 3 recycling dumpsters.
Barry made a motion to cancel GLF service and go with Murtha Sanitation as of May 1st for the town’s waste/recycling service and Dean seconded the motion. Motion carried.
